Mears Middle School

Japanese Immersion Program students continue learning and using their Japanese language skills at Mears Middle School for 7th and 8th grades. When students leave Sand Lake, the two class format is merged into one at this level. In middle school, the focus turns to advanced written language and literacy development in Japanese.

The subject content is delivered through Social Studies and World Geography in the 7th grade and an introduction of the different Social Sciences in 8th grade. This stress on literacy development in middle school really prepares the students well for moving to the next level and working on their language skills in high school.
